Your data
What we store
Your account (email, display name, settings), your generated, uploaded, and created learning resources (decks, cards, images), and your study history (every review and the scheduling state derived from it — that history is what makes spaced repetition work). We also record account-associated product events, such as getting-started choices, study-session counts and fixed failure categories, to understand where the app needs improvement. These new events do not include your card or source text.
Documents and spreadsheets you build decks from are kept as sources: beyond generating the cards, they ground AI explanations, card variants, and improvements to your decks over time. AI features send relevant text and, when needed, images to the providers that process those requests. When recorded pronunciation is generated for language cards, including cards in your generated decks, the text to be spoken is sent to ElevenLabs. Generated audio is stored and may be reused for the same pronunciation.
Removing a source deletes its source entry. It does not automatically remove cards already made from it or guarantee immediate removal of original uploaded files and generation records.
What we don’t
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads. Private decks are not listed for other users. Uploaded files and media currently use storage URLs that can be opened by anyone who has the URL, independently of deck permissions.
Our team can access stored content, and may do so to troubleshoot a problem, to investigate suspected abuse, or when required by law.
Yours to take or destroy
From the account menu you can download a JSON export of your account information, owned decks and cards, study history and sources. The export is not a complete backup for restoring an account: some formats, metadata and media are not included. Original uploaded files may be omitted if they cannot be read or exceed the export size limit; those omissions are listed in the export.
Deleting your account removes your account and learning data, plus media associated only with your account. Media shared with or used by other accounts may remain so those users’ learning resources continue to work.
Where it lives
Data is stored with established cloud infrastructure providers and sent over encrypted connections. Deleting data from the app does not guarantee its immediate removal from provider backups or processing records.
